July Meetup
This was our first official gathering and we had a small turn out. Our initial mailing list was about twenty deep. We had six people turn out for this one. It was a small and fairly mild meeting at bonn lair in East Sacramento. Bonn Lair’s a small dive of a pub, but it has a good crowd and great imports. We had quite a few pints that night and left feeling buzzed and eager for the next one knowing that the idea would spread and the conversation would get really good. Til then.
Hello world.
Over the past few years living, working and designing in Sacramento, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some really cool and talented folks doing some great creative work. Having seen the abundance of ideas being produced by all my friends I was feeling very inspired by the creative content coming out of our fair little city.
However, I was shocked by the fact that very few of these people actually knew each other or the work that they were producing, so I felt inclined to create a new venue for all these bright people to meet one another in hopes of catalyzing the creative process and getting some dialog going amongst the community. We have architects, graphic artists, painters, photographers, web developers, industrial designers and many others, and we needed a social setting to help us all relax, shrug off the work uniform and connect with our creative source. A collective wellspring of ideas if you will. So I started with a designer pint night three months ago, and our gatherings have been growing with interest ever since.
We sit, we drink, we talk, we rant and we all come away feeling emotional charged. A sense of buzz fills the pub’s air as we jump from conversation to conversation. Instigating, provoking and contributing. It’s a co-op. Now I want to capture this energy, record it and publish it. Just to give you a glimpse into minds of the collective conscious. I call it the Capital Creative Collective. Hello world, we have arrived.
