a laptop worth going back to Windows for
Wow, I am thoroughly impressed with the new Adamo line of Dell’s. Take a look at some of the detail shots under the “Admire” tab. If you look at the specifications, the laptop lacks a bit performance wise, like the MacBook Air, but if they could create a more developed line, I would become a convert.
What inspires you?
I wanted to share with you some of the things I read to stay inspired in terms of architecture, design and art. Here is a link to a few items i’ve shared in my Reader (just over 3500 or so). Take a look at what i’m seeing and share what stimulates you.

Pecha Kucha is coming
Pecha Kucha is coming and this time it’s a grand slam. It will be a 3 day affair Nov. 5-7. With over a dozen speakers, this will be a PK Night to remember. The event kicks off on Thursday night at Level Up Lounge for an outdoor evening of creative people talking about creative stuff. Friday night’s event will be held at the Urban Hive and finally Saturday will be held at MARRS outside in the courtyard. Come out and see some of the regions best designers, artists, architects and photographers talking about their work.
Railyards update

I attended a great design dialogue last night, held by the Urban Design Alliance. It was good to see the topics of downtown development being pushed forward. Here’s an update on the Railyard’s infrastructure.
“Good news arrived in September with federal clearance for the Intermodal project and the receipt of State infrastructure dollars allowing construction to proceed on a number of Railyards projects. State funding dollars from three separate State of California Proposition 1C infrastructure programs for the construction of two major downtown streets, 5th Street and Railyards Boulevard. They also received their first disbursement of funding for the abatement work on the historic central shops. With these funds, these projects are moving forward full speed ahead. In addition, the Intermodal team reached a major milestone by securing federal environmental clearance allowing the project to move ahead into final design. Regional Transit’s planned extension of the “Green Line” announcing the ground breaking event early October. The “Green Line” will extend light rail north through the Railyards to the River District serving future residents and businesses in these areas. All of these projects will produce a tremendous amount of construction activity at the Railyards and create more jobs for the region.” Via Livinginurbansac

Pint Night takeaway.

Last nights pint night was another wonderful gathering of creative thinkers from many industries all across Sacramento. The city has definitely been alive with energy and passion lately. Events are going off all around us, new groups are starting, co-op’s are forming and the central city is buzzing with opportunity. This month we challenged our designers to come up with a design solution for empty plots of land around midtown.
Our brave young group of thinkers came up with outrageously fresh ideas. The over whelming theme of the evening was parkitecture, new playspaces and urban landscapes that engaged people in activity and social commerce. We saw giant slides, skateparks, homeless rehab centers, mixed use buildings and park monuments. An impressive mix of ideas for 5 minutes worth of pondering.
I look forward to assembling all these ideas and showcasing them as a body of work in the near future.

Designer Pint Night goes Italian.
So we made the leap this month to Hot Italian. As lovers of all things design, we had to find a venue that really took this to heart, and what better place than HI. In case you missed it here’s a few pictures from the event.
